A study, which was published online by University of Buffalo public health researchers, authors from UB’s School of Public Health and Health professions surveyed 1,000 smokers aged 25 and older from across the nation. Fourteen months after the survey, the authors followed up with the respondents to see if they stayed tobacco-free during the previous month.
What they found was that those who consumed the most fruit and vegetables were 3 times more likely to abstain from tobacco for at least 30 days than those consuming small amounts of fruit and vegetables. In addition, those consuming more fruit and vegetables smoked less often per day, waited longer before having their first daily cigarette, and scored better on a nicotine-dependent test.
In case you didn’t know, an average person needs to consume around 8 cups (2 liters) of water every day. Water is the main part of the human body and no metabolic or biochemical process in the body cannot take place without water. The water regulates body temperature, hydrates our lungs, transfers nerve impulses and much more. If you are looking for a way to flush nicotine out of your system, we suggest drinking water in large amounts. The water cleans our system. Adding a touch of lemon, lime, vinegar and a bit of ginger to your drinking water is even more cleansing. Another interesting fact is that water acts both inside and outside of our body. By taking baths and showering frequently, you will “encourage” the nicotine to get out of the body through the pores. In order to achieve even better effects, try to use sea salt or exfoliating soap.
A few more quick tips...Try replacing one meal a day with a smoothie containing yogurt to amp up your probiotic intake. Replace coffee with green tea during the cleansing period. Try to avoid alcohol and sugar. Anything you can do to help the body rid itself of toxins will be of great benefit...exercise, steam or sauna, and add in a good massage. You're worth it!
The length of time nicotine stays in the body depends on the amount of tobacco smoked, and the numbger of years you have smoked. It can be as short as two days, or as long as three months. Although these ideas seem quite simplistic, I think you will find that they will speed your jouney to better health and vitality.
